6 1/2 Mile Bike Ride Iowa Riverfront TrailA Bike Ride In Council Bluffs Another nice ride! We took our bikes on the Iowa Riverfront Trail in Council Bluffs yesterday, May 4, 2008, and only had one complaint about the trail. What was the complaint? Just a little ways before our destination of Roberts Park, the trail became a part of the street! Yes, there was a section on the right side of the road for bikes, but we didn't want to be on the street. We aren't ready for that yet. So, at that point we turned around, and headed back towards where we parked the car.
Iowa Riverfront Trail Three Wheeling Vicky Heading North On The Iowa Riverfront Trail About half of the ride the trail was similar to this, and the rest of the trail varied, with a good portion within sight of the interstate. This picture was taken just a little bit north of Playland Park and the Council Bluffs to Omaha pedestrian bridge, which was still under construction.
Iowa Riverfront Trail Vicky In The Shade A Nice Place For A Bench As usual, we stopped for pictures of ourselves along the trail. Yesterday the shade looked like a good place, it was a little warm on this ride at times.
Posing With My Schwinn Jaguar On The Iowa Riverfront Trail Schwinn Jaguar Along The Trail You can't see it, but there is an old (railroad?) bridge behind me in this picture. Every now and then a walk or ride down on of the area trails has something special associated with it. This ride was the day we saw two turkeys. We parked along the trail, and as I was looking around a couple of nice fat looking turkeys took off running. They had been hiding in the brush near us, and of course I did not have the camera ready at the time. I suppose I could have fumbled with the camera, hoping to get a picture, but instead I decided just to enjoy watching them.
Iowa Riverfront Trail Heading Back To Council Bluffs Glad That Winter Is Over It is nice to see things getting so green again after making it though another winter. This picture was taken on our way back to Council Bluff's Playland Park. Note: Our muscles still aren't built up enough to do a 6 1/2 mile ride without feeling it later on, and the next day. Nothing horrible, but we are aware of it, that's for sure.
Iowa Riverfront Trail Pedestrian Bridge Construction Connecting Council Bluffs and Omaha Okay, it cost an awful lot of money that probably could have been spent on more important things, but this pedestrian bridge linking Council Bluffs and Omaha is a neat thing! Can't wait till it's done. |
